The Bristol Cyclist - No. 42 - Winter 2001 | Previous | Contents | Next
In June this year intrepid BCC member Mac did a 453 mile two-week ride around Wales staying at B&Bs, all on a budget of less than £300. Starting with the train north to Chester, the route took in Colwyn Bay, Caernarfon, Barmouth, Machynlleth, Cardigan, Fishguard, St. Davids, Milford Haven, Tenby, The Gower, Swansea, Bridgend, Cardiff, Newport (via the transporter bridge), the Severn Bridge, and back to Bristol.
The Centre for Alternative Technology at Machynlleth givves a discount (70p) to cyclists, but Barmouth Bridge charges 10p extra!
Mac was stopped by a police car new Dwygylyichi and told to leave the A55 as it was dangerous for cyclists. What a cheek! Makes you realise our local bobbies are less unenlightened after all!
p.s. araf is Welsh for slow
